Kāinga Manaaki is part of our Te Iwiheke Pātata initiative, providing safe and affordable whare in Tūrangi. But it’s more than just housing—it’s about manaaki (supporting) whānau on their journey towards sustainable housing and homeownership.

Affordable rentals – subsidised by He Iwi Kāinga, below market rates.
Our Manaaki Kāinga homes are made possible through subsidies provided by He Iwi Kāinga, ensuring weekly rental fees are set at below market rates.
Our Manaaki Kāinga whare are not designed to be life-long homes instead our goal for these homes is to be able to support as many members as possible, including the generations to come. They are offered for a fixed time period with a maximum term.

You’ll be required to engage in a range of programmes, training, and mentoring designed to prepare our members for future homeownership.

He Iwi Kainga is the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust's housing strategy, set up in 2019 to help with the housing needs of Ngāti Tūwharetoa whanau.
The Trust provides a number of grants to support our marae operational costs and benefit the people of Tūwharetoa.
